OpenSIGLE : your access to european grey literature
OpenSIGLE is an open access to bibliographical references of reports and other grey literature (GL) produced in Europe.
The records are in English. They include bibliographical data, the SIGLE classification codes (cf. Full Subject Category List) with their wording, and possibly an English summary.
SIGLE - System for Information on Grey Literature -, was created in 1980 in order to collect and to make available grey literature produced in the countries of the European Community by the intermediary of an online database.
Created with the support of the European Community, the base was produced from 1985 onwards by EAGLE - European Association for Grey Literature Exploitation. Each country is represented by one or more documentation centres or libraries of national importance.
In 2005, the members of EAGLE decided the dissolution of the association and the stop of supplying new documents. The database SIGLE has been taken from all hosts proposing the base online.
That is why INIST - Institut de l’Information Scientifique et Technique, launches the OpenSIGLE project : transfer the SIGLE database to online open access.
Thus all bibliographical references are searchable again, henceforth free of charge, with OpenSIGLE.
