Nancy is located in North-Eastern France (350 kms east of Paris, 150 kms west of Strasbourg and 100 kms south of Luxembourg).
The city is in the heart of the Lorraine region. The Greater Nancy Urban Area has a population of around 350,000 inhabitants.
INIST-CNRS is located in the suburb of Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, on the Brabois plateau, about 20 minutes from (car or tramway) from downtown Nancy and the train station and about 5 minutes from a freeway exit.
Getting to Nancy by plane
The Metz-Nancy Lorraine Airport is located halfway between Metz and Nancy.

METROLOR shuttle buses run regularly between the airport and the Nancy train station.
A one-way ticket costs € 4.00.

From Nancy train station to INIST-CNRS
Public transportation – The T1 “VANDOEUVRE - CHU Brabois” tramway line will take you directly to INIST-CNRS.
Follow the signs to the “Nancy Gare” stop and get off at the “Faisanderie” stop right across from the Renault car dealership.
To use the tramway, you need to purchase a “Pass”. Passes can be purchased at the railway station, at vending machines at stops and in most tobacconist shops. A one trip pass costs € 1.20 and a ten-trip pass cost € 8.70.
The tramway runs about every 6-10 minutes during the day.
Taxicab – A cab station is located across the street from the departure hall, Place Thiers.

Getting to Nancy by car

Once you exit at the 2a/2b Nancy Brabois exits, follow the road past the CHU (University Hospital) on the right and at the third traffic light, turn left by the Renault car dealership.
